[경제] A Safety Net in Times of Crises : Humanitarian Food Assistance in Cox’s Bazar

방글라데시 국외연구자료 연구보고서 - World Bank 발간일 : 2022-05-11 등록일 : 2022-05-20 원문링크

In August of 2017, Rohingya refugees fled from Myanmar to escape violence and arrived in the district of Cox’s Bazar of Bangladesh. Within a period of 4 months, an influx of about 724,000 persons joined other Rohingya who had fled earlier waves of violence, increasing the total number of displaced Rohingya in the area up to around one million. By the end of 2021, around 920,0001 Rohingya were hosted in 34 camps across the two sub-districts of Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. This note is the product of a collaboration between the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Global Practice and the UN World Food Program. It attempts to document how humanitarian assistance, particularly food assistance, supported by the Government of Bangladesh and development partners, has been rapidly scaled up since the onset of the 2017 influx, successfully met basic food needs for the Rohingya population and expanded efforts to strengthen livelihoods and build resilience among the host communities. The briefs follow the trajectory of the Food Security and Livelihoods sector’s programming from 2017, highlighting changes in the directions and motivations of food assistance programs.
