[경제] Approaches to Dairy Sector Sustainability in Croatia

Dairy farming in Croatia is organized into small entities, where traditionally the farmer and household members of the family provide labor and capital for the farm operation. They manage the farm and assume the risks to earn a family farm income. This report is a part of the World Bank’s Advisory Services and Analytics (ASA), which are nonlending activities that strengthen the knowledge base at the global or regional level and in specific countries. In the case of Croatia, ASA products are set in the context of the new agriculture strategy and the necessity for its alignment with new European Union (EU) policy frameworks and requirements. The purpose of this study is to identify and explore obstacles to sustainable growth in the Croatian dairy sector, and to formulate suggestions for solutions. These recommendations for a more competitive and environmentally sustainable dairy sector aim to trigger change across the entire value chain. The report provides analytical evidence and stakeholder experiences, and support for strategy-building consultations for policy changes and interventions to help address some main issues that limit sustainable dairy development in Croatia.
