The article deals with the aspects of the ICT innovation based on the development of the internet of things in industrial branches. This trend is known as the Industry 4.0, e.g. the forth industrial revolution. The article presents main results of the pilot survey done in selected Czech and Polish companies. They show the current status of the Industry 4.0 understanding and penetration in companies, incl. expected benefits and known obstacles of this trend.
